It was a clear night this past Sunday, so it was easy to see February’s full moon, a.k.a “snow moon”, “hunger moon”, “storm moon”, “wolf moon”, “bone moon”, and others. The names make sense. February is the snowiest month, food is scarce, storms begin, animals prowl. So let’s name the moon according to our life perceptions. “See the moon?” Here comes snow, hunger, danger! We do that, don’t we? Filter circumstances according to how they impact us and tag it with attributes good or bad. The truth is February’s full moon is not a precursor or predictor of the next 30 days, it’s not about me or you. Instead, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your (God’s) fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalms 8:3-9) The next full moon is March 3rd, our next reminder of the care and majesty of God. PK
