DESTINATION 08-13-2026

Every parent is familiar with: “are we there yet?” In my youth pastor days, every time the question was asked, I had a ready response: “about 15 minutes”, regardless of the actual time. New kids would get excited, till one of the seasoned kids would say, “he always says that, may as well stop asking”. It worked. For some reason we all want to how much farther to our destination. As Christians we all have a destination in mind and there are days when the journey seems long. There’s only so many games of UNO on a youth trip till boredom sets in. Paul gives assurance to the Philippians that their destination is coming (day of Christ) and not to be concerned about “when” they’ll get there but what to do along the way. (PH 1:9-11) And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. We may arrive in 15 minutes, but the journey allows us to live the best life along the way.
