I’ve never seen a dead hummingbird. I’m not being morbid, I love hummingbirds. Their seasonal appearance around our backyard feeders is a highlight of spring. Watching their aerial dogfights as they claim ownership of the feeder, and then amazed as they hover over nectar, then fly forward and backward, which only hummingbirds can do. Incredible evidence of God’s creativity. But I’ve never seen a hummingbird fall to the ground. But God has. Nothing is too small for His caring eye, nor too big. He sees—He cares, about hummingbirds, about you! Hear the words of Jesus: Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31) Don’t think for a minute what you’re going through has escaped the creative care of your Father. PK
