Have you ever had one of those moments when you needed something or were looking for something and suddenly it was right in front of you? It’s not just small things either. Once when I was in my mid-teens my dad took a new job and we had to move to a new city. Money was tight, so much so that with payday a week away we had nothing in the food pantry. As always we had already connected with a local Nazarene church. Our family was away from the apartment (can’t remember where) and when we came home there were bags of groceries sitting on the kitchen table! No one knew our need, except God was listening and someone from the church was listening to God. I guess the words of Jesus are true: (Matthew 6:8) your Father knows what you need before you ask him. My morning devotion took me to the Book of Ruth where a phrase jumped out at me. (Ruth 2:2-3) One day Ruth said to Naomi, Perhaps I can go out into the fields of some kind man to glean the free grain behind his reapers.” And Naomi said, “All right, dear daughter. Go ahead.” So she did. And as it happened, the field where she found herself belonged to Boaz, this relative of Naomi’s husband. Most of you know the tragic story of Naomi and the way God provided for her through Boaz and Ruth. Could it be that in the midst of your need it “just so happens” God is directing your circumstances to be just what you need at just the right time, His time! He’s done it before. He’s doing it now!
