When’s the last time you celebrated a punishment? Or more precisely, a curse? In a few days you will: Labor Day. Let me remind you. (Genesis 3:17-19) To Adam he [God] said, “Because you ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” We’ve come a long way from scratching existence out of the dirt and Monday we’ll be thankful for the innovations and hard workers that have made the curse bearable. (though millions still scratch the dirt for their food and water today) So Monday recognize the achievements and work which enable our lifestyle but remember You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant (Deuteronomy 8:17-18) And celebrate this: Christ redeemed us from the curse (Galatians 3:13) PK
