O.T. Stories 10-23-2024

I hope you are a regular reader of the Old Testament. It’s there you find incredible stories that captivate like a Hollywood movie. Stories of battles and deliverance, famine and manna, water from rocks, even raising the dead. Stories that point forward to the ONE, Jesus the Messiah and Lord. Like this one out of 2 Kings. Samaria, capital city of Northern Israel, is under siege. Famine so severe disputes rise over whose baby to eat next. Kept outside the city gates, due to their disease, are four lepers. During the night God caused the sieging army to hear what they thought was a massive army coming at them. They left everything and fled. The four lepers, starving said “ lets surrender, we’re dying anyway”. When they entered the camp no soldier was to be found. They gorged themselves, hid some loot and (2 Kings 7:9) Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. We sing in the classic song, “Jesus Paid it All”: Lord, now indeed I find, Thy pow’r, and Thine alone, Can change this leper’s spots, And melt the heart of stone. I’m one of those lepers as good as dead, who by God’s grace has been given abundant life through Jesus. That my friends is good news which we dare not keep to ourselves. PK
