Ssssssst. Patrick's Day

hfcnministries

Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a day when everyone claims to be Irish, regardless of what Ancestry.com may say. My grandmother’s a Matheney, Irish, or could be Scottish, (I don’t plan on doing the Ancestry thing) but tomorrow definitely Irish. You too? Legend has it St. Patrick drove the snakes from Ireland. Fact: there are no snakes in Ireland, never were. But because of St. Patrick, that ancient snake who had enslaved the Irish with heathen beliefs, was driven off the island. So I’m ok with anyone who wants to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. In fact, I’m ok with everyone who identifies with that same mission…driving out the snake! Here’s what I read about that: (Ephesians 6:12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. So what does it mean to be a year long “St. Patrick”? I’ll give you the words of Jesus in Matthew 5. Be “poor in spirit, mourn the broken, be meek, crave righteousness, be merciful, be a peacemaker”. Snakes flee people who live like that! Tomorrow, if you don’t wear green you’ll get pinched. PLEASE pinch me if I don’t live according to Jesus’ words, like St. Patrick. PK
