Most of us, if not all of us, have some kind of weather app on our phones. The apps generally provide a 7 – 10 day forecast, a hour by hour prediction and a radar showing current condition. Still, with all that in the palm of our hands how often are we caught off guard by the sudden downpour disrupting our plans. Chapter 27 of Acts is such a disruption. Luke’s life and death story is riveting. Fourteen days of hurricane winds, desperation that ends in shipwreck, but no loss of life. Read it. It’s also a story of faith. Like when Jesus tells his disciples “we’re going to the other side of the lake.” Then “suddenly” a storm threatens them. We know the sudden storms that come at us are not all weather related: health issues, auto crash, unexpected bill, and more. In Luke’s story Paul has a promise from God:  So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me. (Acts 27:25) Jesus asked his disciples “where’s your faith?” as he raised his hand and calmed the sea. And so when the sudden storm hits may I “keep courage” and have faith Jesus is with me and has a plan to keep me. PK
