In 1910, Grover Laudermilk, pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals was sent to the Springfield, Illinois Senators after a poor showing for the Cardinals. It was an opportunity for a fresh start for Grover and an Illinois newspaper described Grover as “tickled pink”. It’s the first occurrence of the phrase in writing and since has become a part of everyday language. You know what it means. It’s a synonym for “grateful”; an overwhelming appreciation of thanks. Whether I blush or not I am “tickled pink” with the new start Jesus provided me in his sacrificial death and resurrection. It’s summed up in his call, “follow me”. So we turn from old ways and walk the Jesus way and I’m “tickled pink” (grateful) for the joy and peace in a fresh start. B.T. W. Grover moved on to pitch for the Cubs and ended his career with the Reds. Go Grover! PK
