Tomorrow. A favorite word of procrastinators, prognosticators, optimists and to-do listers. We live today but deep down we live with a certain confidence there will be a tomorrow. It’s a delicate balance. When tomorrow weighs too heavily on our today all kinds of disfunction unfolds. Worry: Jesus has something to say about that: do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34) Uncertainty: We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. (I Corinthians 13:12 MSG) Fear: Now men do not see the bright light which is in the clouds, but the wind passes and cleanses them. (Job 37:21 MEV) Jesus is that light! Our today is in balance when we Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
