Wise Ole owl/May 1,2024

This morning, as I often do, I stepped outside with a cup of coffee to enjoy the cool air, the rising sun and the music of God’s creation: birds singing. Only this morning rather than peaceful chirping it was chaotic squawking. High up in a pine tree 3 or 4 mockingbirds were darting around screeching back and forth at what I finally recognized as an owl, a big one. The wise ole owl just sat perched unconcerned by the bothersome birds knowing they could make lots of noise, but he/she could not be moved. Pilate asked Jesus, “what is truth”? This after the squawking Sanhedrin had made many accusations against Jesus, all of which were untrue. To Jesus Pilate said (John 19:10-11) “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?” Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.” So stay calm. Be unmoved by the squawking accusations of our culture against God’s Truth. How? (1 Peter 2:15) For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.
