3-Point Turn 09-02-2026

One of the tasks we had to accomplish in order to successfully pass drivers education class was the “3 point turn”. That maneuver that allows you to turn the opposite direction you’re driving with minimal effort. It’s a driving skill rarely used but oh so handy when on a rural road, having missed a turn, you can either drive another mile or two down the road searching for a turn-around or execute a “3-point turn”. Once a young man approached Jesus asking what he needed to do to inherit eternal life. Obey the commandments Jesus answered. I do that, the young man responded, convinced he was going the right direction. Jesus answered, if your destination is eternal life you must execute a “3-point turn”, sell what you have, give to the poor and follow me. The young man chose to keep driving his own direction. Sad. A “3-point turn” may be rare but every disciple of Jesus will be called upon, at some point, to change direction. An immediate “3-point turn” is an ever-ready skill for a faithful follower of Jesus.
