bank statement 06-17-2026

I received my bank statement the other day. (electronically) It’s time to reconcile the statement. That means, according to Google A.I.: “checkbook reconciliation involves matching each transaction in your checkbook or accounting records with the corresponding entries on your bank statement.”  Sometimes something shows up on the statement and for whatever reason (memory lapse/lost receipt) the records don’t match, thus the need for reconciliation. (I know some of you are thinking it could be fraud, but that forgotten drink at the gas station is more likely.) Someday, maybe today, we will have to give an account for our earthly lives. As the Hebrew writer says: (4:13) Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. The problem: not one of us can match our lives (transactions) to the scrutiny of God’s accounting. The good news: Jesus, whom Apostle Paul writes is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:18-20) PK
