The other day I was searching for an item, decided against it, and minutes later I received an ad pushing for it on my phone. (1984esque) I don’t mind advertisements per-se, I understand sellers need to get the word out about their products. Advertisements come in two basic forms: indirect and direct ads. Indirect is a general ad broadcast to everyone. Direct ads are an appeal to a specific target. So before there were professional marketers God set about beautifully presenting the One answer to life we ALL need: Jesus. First, His general appeal: Luke 2:1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. So whether they knew it or not, and they didn’t yet, Jesus their/our Savior of the entire world had arrived. Second, his direct appeal: Luke 2:8-11 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord said to them, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord”. My prayer is that God’s advertisement of Jesus’ salvation will pop up on the screen of your Christmas celebrations with Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love. PK. Have a Blessed Christmas!
