Today is recycle day. As you drive through my neighborhood, you’ll find by the curb overflowing blue recycle waste cans which will be gathered, sorted and according to its name, recycled, possibly to reappear in my or your house in its new form. If you’ll allow me, recycling is a great parable of the kingdom of God. To begin with, you and I are the recyclers. Maybe this will help: Colossians 3:13 Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 1 John 4:11 since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Ephesians 5:2 walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Forgiveness, love and compassion did not originate with us. They’re given freely from the heart and character of God. We are not mere consumers of God’s favor, we are recyclers expressing forgiveness, love, compassion in various Spirit led forms according to the people we share life with. So, remember today, and every day, is recycle day in God’s Kingdom. PK
