We were loaded to capacity in our 15 passenger van on our way to Six Flags over Georgia when between Meridian and Tuscaloosa I-20 traffic came to a standstill. It was a deadly crash involving a tractor trailer and several cars that took three hours to clear. Needless to say three hours sitting on I-20 with a van full of teenagers was not on my schedule and there was no such thing as air pods back then. Still, we reached six-flags, did the six-flags thing and made it home safe and mostly sound. If this was the only life disruption then how pleasantly smooth life would be. Yet roadblocks, detours, schedule busters, illness, financial loss, death’s sorrow come. Do we give up and turn, as some in the van called for, or do we persevere? To turn is to lose hope, end the journey which the Sovereign Lord has “marked out” for you. So let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus,…Consider him who endured such opposition, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3) The wait may be long but persevere, don’t lose heart.
