Wendi and I took a stroll in the falling snow yesterday. It was magical, both the stillness that always accompanies a snowfall and the joy of the kids playing in this rare south Mississippi “blizzard”. For the rest an inch or two of snow is a cause for caution, especially on the roads. Snow can be hazardous, thus the warnings. Thus the accolade of (1 Chronicles 11:22) Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. Now, whatever possessed him to go into a pit with a lion in the first place I can’t imagine, let alone on a slippery snowy day, where as one song says: “where feet may fail”. Still the roaring lion of 1 Peter 5:8 is out there and in all kinds of weather I can stand firm and fearless like Benaiah because (Psalm 94:18) When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
